Getting to Islay

Calmac operate the ferry service to Islay from Kennacraig, the crossing takes just over 2 hours and arrives at either Port Ellen or Port Askaig both of which are around 40 minutes drive from Burnside Lodge. Booking in advance is essential if you are bringing a vehicle.  Alternatively you can fly to Islay from Glasgow with Loganair.  There are two car hire companies on Islay - Islay Car Hire and Cresswells both of whom will meet you at the airport.   Although there is a regular bus service, you really need a car to see the best of the island and to eat in the evenings!.  Local Taxi's are available from Islay Taxi's or Bruichladdich Taxi's

Getting to Burnside Lodge

From Bowmore, Port Ellen or Port Askaig head for Port Charlotte, then follow the road (A847) towards Portnahaven. 7 Miles from Port Charlotte you will reach the outskirts of the villages, and see a 30mph sign. Turn left towards the lighthouse and then right when you reach the telephone box T-junction, Burnside Lodge is the last house before the bridge. If you miss this turning and go on into Portnahaven, take the next left and you will come to Burnside Lodge from the other direction.
